Here is a great looking vintage salt glazed stoneware mug, tankard or stein from West Germany. It has gorgeous cobalt blue decoration. You will receive ONE mug as shown in Very Good one owner estate condition. It will hold 2 1/2 cups or 20 ounces of your favorite brew. For coffee lovers it will make a nice big cup for your morning brew. The best part is that when it is not in use it makes a fabulous display that will work well with Farmhouse, Americana, Country, Blue and White, Folk and just about any rustic decorative style.
The cobalt blue decoration is bright and clean and this piece of vintage stoneware is in Excellent one owner estate condition. We see no chips, cracks, flakes or repairs. There is no crazing or discoloration to the outside of the mug and light discoloration on the inside typical with a piece of this age.
The mug stands 5 1/8" tall and measures 3 1/8" across the top with a 3 3/4" measurement across the base. It is embossed .5L for 1/2 liter (or 20 ounces/2 1/2 cups). The base is embossed West Germany. There is decorators mark in a diamond under the embossed liquid measurement it appears to be "FS". Many of these types of pieces were purchased in bulk from the main stein factories and then decorated. It has a Merkelbach shape but it could be one of a number of makers.
