No two Claire Murray rugs are alike, and we are unable to find one like this anywhere. As soon as my wife saw this rug, there was sheer joy in her eyes like a kid in a candy store. It is a vintage rug c1990s that we picked up a local estate on the Gulf.
We did not launder it, although these rugs can be washed it was free of any odors and the prior owners stated it was recently cleaned. You will note staining on the backing, not uncommon for a rug of this age but there are no fowl smells that you might expect, or we would not have purchased for our shop. The stains look like old water stains. It displays like a dream and has a lot of life left in it. No rips or tears. A few light stains on the front that are difficult to see unless you are looking for them.
Claire Murray's story is fascinating, she left a job in NYC to move to Nantucket to run a bed and breakfast and open her shops to sell her rugs and other wares. She has been in numerous magazines such as Country Living and Marie Claire.
