Check out the stunning patina on this Middletown Silver Plate Water Pitcher. It has a gunmetal or dark platinum look with a glossy finish. We did not clean only wiped down because we thought the natural patina was fantastic! This vintage pitcher is large and has a raised grape and vine design along the spout and top edge. We have taken photos from every angle for you to see how well it is presents.
The pitcher can be used for many different decorative styles on your table or sideboard and can even be used as a center piece with florals (see our last photo).
Middletown Silver Plate Co. has a rich history which I won't bore you with, but they have been in business since 1899 and eventually ended up being a part of International Silver Co. This piece is c1940 or possibly a bit earlier. See marks on bottom in photo 6. The condition is fair to good. There are dings or dents. The inside shows discoloration from not being cleaned or polished but I do not see any major wear to the plate. It will clean up nicely if you choose to do so. I would clean the inside only if using for serving and leave the outside patina but again, it is a matter of personal taste and use of the pitcher.
The pitcher will hold 7 cups or 56 fluid oz of water or your favorite beverage. It stands 8 7/8" tall and has an 8 7/8" span from handle to spout.
This grape and vine style can be used with everything from Art Nouveau to French Country.
