Another beautiful vintage pottery rice serving bowl. This blue and white decorated bowl has 4 stylized cranes around the bowl with an interesting border decoration at the top. This piece is unmarked but we know it is Chinese made as we have found another similar with a Chinese marking. We did not have any luck with the maker. The history we have on this piece is that it was purchased in the early 1960s at an antique shop. We believe based on decoration it more like a 1930s piece. It will go well with your Asian decorative pieces and your Blue and White decor. The stylized crane is outstanding as far as subject matter is concerned on pottery - you just don't see it.
The bowl stands 4 3/4" tall and measures 8 1/4" across the top opening. The bowl shows no chips, cracks, or repairs. The outer body has light crazing with little discoloration. The inside very bottom of the bowl shows an area of crazing with discoloration as does the very bottom of the bowl. The base of the bowl has interesting cut outs along the bottom. We wanted to point this out because the photos may make the bottom of the bowl look like a chunk is missing - nothing missing just the way the bowl is styled. You can see this best in the last photo of the bowl upside down.
