Franciscan Pottery Starburst Dinner Plates set of 6. This set of MCM dinner plates is part of a larger Starburst collection we will be offering this week. Check back often as we additional pieces (see link below for direct access). This Mid Century Modern pattern was produced from 1954 - 1966 and has recently had a resurgence of popularity among MCM collectors and designers. The shipping is INCLUDED for our USA customers. Franciscan's introduced this clay dinnerware formula, known as Malinite, in 1946.
Our photos of these plates came out a little funky due to the flash but you can view the rest of the collection to see they are all a stone white plate with a very faint grey speck in the malinite clay. They are not yellowed or yellow in background color. The atomic starburst design is superb in aqua blue, olive green and yellow. It is trimmed out in black and whether you use for dinner service or decor they are really outstanding for your Mid Century look. The plates in this collection are not perfectly round but slightly asymmetrical giving them a nice free form look.
This is a set of (six) 6 DINNER PLATES from this collection.
Size - 10 7/8"
Condition - 3 Plates are Very Good+ No chips, cracks, flakes or discoloration. Transfer is bright and clean. 1 Plate has a pin head size rim flake other wise very good condition. 2 Plates are Fair. 1 has a clean front but discoloration on the back and the last plate has edge rim glaze wear and 1 chip. We are extremely detailed and picky. All of these can be used and set on the table without noticing the flaw mentioned for 60-70 year dinnerware they are really nice.
These can be used for dinner plates but they would also make a great display when not in use.
