A charming estate found vintage Japanese Majolica biscuit jar or cookie jar. This 1930s-40s biscuit jar has many great features including gorgeous floral relief, vibrant colors of deep pink and green, a rattan handle and wonderful flower shaped side and lid handles. It will go well with your vintage kitchen decors and we especially like for shabby chic. Will work anywhere you want to add a brilliant pop of color.
The jar stands 8" tall with the lid on or 6 1/4" without the lid. It measures 7 3/4" across the top. This piece is in Good condition for its 80-90 year old age. The base of the jar shows no chips, cracks or flakes. There is discoloration inside the jar from age. The lid has 2 inside the rim chips that can not be seen when on the pot and are difficult to see in photos because they are on the white unglazed edge of the lid. We note a few spots of pottery discoloration here and there but nothing glaring (see photo 4 side view a few small spots). Really a fantastic piece of majolica that is nearly antique.
