This might be one of the nicest pieces of Arts and Crafts or Mission Style pottery by Robinson Ransbottom we have had the opportunity to offer. This large floor vase or center piece is a gorgeous color blue leaning toward periwinkle but not purple with a great bulbous shape and banding. It will also go very well with your Southwestern style decors. The color in the photos is true with the exception of photo 5 where we photographed the inside with the flash on. All other photos taken in daylight with no flash.
This piece has an interesting mark for RRP Co. we normally see the crown marks on the front of their earlier crocks. This piece might have been shortly after the company merge in the 1920s. If anyone has info on this unusual mark on this, we would love to know. We have not seen one like this in 35 years and can't find one anywhere. The pot stands 14 1/2" tall and measures 15 1/2 across the widest part of the body.
This piece is in VERY GOOD estate condition. There are no chips, cracks or flakes. We note a few popped pottery bubbles on the inside (see photo 5). There is crazing with discoloration seen upon close inspection at the base (see photos). This is a beautiful example of 80-90 year old American Art Pottery.
This larger size planter or jardiniere is the perfect size for large table center piece, on a patio or lanai, or beside your sofa.
