Elmer Wilkinson incorporated his business in 1907, and was only in business 6 years, when in 1915 it filed for bankruptcy. These lamps are being increasingly more difficult to find, especially in their original condition.
The lamp was rewired with a new from old stock cloth cord which is what would have been this lamp originally. The prior owner did the rewiring, so we ask that with all antique lamps you have it checked by lighting professional before prolonged use.
The lamp stands about 25 1/4" tall with the shade. The shade is stunning and large. It measures 19" across the bottom opening. The bronze lamp base is ornate and has beautiful even patina. There are a few markings on the base. An embossed #1 on the foot (a mark we have seen on Handel lamp bodies) and the number 515 for the model number. The lamp has 3 pull cord chains to work each of the standard size light bulbs. You can also use standard LED bulbs.
The shade looks all good. I see no damage to the leaded glass panels. Now with that being said, I'm sure there are minor imperfections in the glass somewhere because it is 110-115 years old and sometimes the soldering between the glass on these starts to wear. This looks like it is in what I would call Very Good condition a sold 8.5-10. We call nothing antique perfect, and this will be quite a show piece.
