Antique Wilcox Silver Plate Large Candelabra Ornate 5 Arm Exquisite Silver Decor
One of the nicest examples of an Antique Silver Plate 5 Arm Candelabra by Wilcox Silver Plate Co. This 1880s-1890s candle holder is ornate and quality made with quadruple plating. At that time this was a luxury item and by the way the plating held up we are not surprised. For a 130-140 year old item is really in incredible shape.
This antique candelabra is a large piece standing 14" tall at the center and 12" tall at the arms. It spans 16" across the arms and has an ornate square 6" base with shell feet.
We did a soft cloth polishing and left the smallest amount of patina which gives it depth and charm. This large antique candelabra can be used with many types of decorative styles and in many rooms. We can see this with Victorian, Art Nouveau, French Country, Glam, Shabby and even your more transitional and contemporary styles mixed in with your silver decors. Try it on a coffee table, vanity, sofa table, soaking tub, entry way table ... anywhere this is placed it will be a magnificent focal point.
There are 5 places for taper candles. We used standard 7/8" taper candles and they were a little loose but you can band the bottoms or put museum wax in the cups to hold them up. A slightly larger taper might work better than ours. The center holder does not have a drip cup we believe there was something ornamental there at one time. It does not affect anything and you can still put a candle in as we did OR we were thinking how great a perfect half round bouquet of silk florals like hydrangeas would look at the top. Many ideas....
We rarely see pieces of this age in this condition. Make this beauty yours. You will not be disappointed. See all of our photos (11 photos) to view from every angle.
