A super Antique Brooch, c1880s or possibly earlier crafted of brass with bright enameling. The brooch measures 1 3/4" across and will hold a 1" round photograph. It currently holds an antique photograph of a women from the 1880s period. The frame also has ornate bead work detailing. You can see some oxidation of the brass on this detailing. We did not try to clean it, only wiped it down.
The enamel work is in amazing condition for a brooch of this age. The colors are bright and clean with almost no wear seen. It has a "c" catch closure. The paper backing is peeling off beneath you can see the tin type photo back.
This is a great piece and the colors might indicate a historical event possibly 1876 centennial event but we have no way to be certain.
