A beautiful pair of antique porcelain plates from Austria with bright metallic gold trim and the letter S (monogram S). These plates are marked with the M & Z (Moritz Zdekauer) makers mark in green. This company went through many name changes and we found their pieces under everything from Altrohlau Porcelain, Stara Role Pottery to Hutschenreuther. We do know roughly when these plates were made and exactly when they the were hand decorated based on the marks. See our photo for close up and mark details. Plates manufactured between 1900-1909 and decorated in 1910.
The plates measure 8 3/8" and they stand about 7/8" tall with a shallow bowl. These will be stunning on a plate rack, wall hung, on plate easels on your server or displayed in your china cabinet. They will go with a multitude of decors - basically anything opulent. You can cross style these into just about anything - from Victorian to Farmhouse to French Country. And don't be scared to add them to your more contemporary and transitional gold decors - pulling in unique items can pulls a room together.
This set of 2 plates is in Very Good+ antique condition for over 110 years old. No chips, cracks or flakes. Minimal expected wear to gold metallic trim. If these were our initials we would have put them in our own collection - we liked them that much. Very fine porcelain and superb pieces for gifting or display.
