A stunning antique Handel Era reverse painted glass lamp in need of rewiring and a little TLC. We saw this and could not leave it even though it needs a little work....it will really be worth it when it is finish. This 1900-1910 table lamp has a panoramic farmhouse scene with stream and sunset with snow drifts. The bright, colors range from brilliant yellow and sunset orange, to fading pinks and deep blues with hints of periwinkle. The lamp is very solid and well made.
The glass panels are in Good condition with no chips, cracks or flakes seen. The metal body appears to have a coppery finish on it with a nice patina. We usually spend a little more time cleaning items but we are trying to get our overflow of stock out so we only did a quick wipe down. The remnants of the cloth covered original cord are still attached to the lamp but it is majorly frayed and there is no plug. We left the old cord on the fixture as it helps date the piece c1900-1910.
Lamp Height to Top of Finial - 23 1/4"
Lamp Measurement Across Base - 7 1/4"
Lamp Shade Measurement Across widest point - 18 1/2". Shade shows light age spots. If you are into antiques, this probably won't bother you. Shade can easily be replaced. It is a nice period shade that is well over 100 years old. .
Condition - Lamp needs rewiring. The shade is an early shade and it is mildly spotted from age. If you like antiques you will most likely not have a problem with the shades condition. The finial has a chip on it. See photos for condition.
This lamp will be a beautiful addition to your Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Mission or Craftsman home with a little TLC. We are unable to see any signatures but it very closely resembles a Handel lamp.
