19th Century Bronze Cherub Holding Torch on Celestial Globe Statue in the likeness of Emile Bruchon
A beautifully crafted 19th Century Bronze Cherub crafted in the likeness of Emile Bruchon. This antique cherub sculpture has incredible details all the way around. He is holding a torch and standing on a celestial globe. The statue is hollow but weighs in at 6.7 lbs unboxed - it is hefty and not a piece that will easily be tipped over. We can safely date this piece between 1890 and 1900. The romantic style will work with everything from your Victorian decors to Art Nouveau and we can even see this in the right Art Deco settings.
This piece has wonderful natural patina from age. We only did a wipe down. You can see the brighter bronze peaking through the bottom of the piece. If you wish this piece to be brighter it will polish up nicely.
The statue stands 18" tall and measures 4.75" across the base. The arm span is about 8.5". This piece would be incredible on a server, table, shelf, or ledge of a soaking tub. It would also make an amazing newel post decoration. The style will work with any romantic decors including Victorian, Art Nouveau and even Art Deco in the right setting. The white spots you see in some of the creases are old polish that has dried on. Some warm water will loosen it up. Otherwise this piece is in remarkable condition with NO damage seen. We give it a 9 out of 10 for antique (over 100 yrs old) condition..
