1940s Simonds Cross-Cut Saw Tool Set No. 342 with Extra Saw Tools
1940s Simonds Cross-Cut Saw Tool Set No. 342 with instructions (no box) and some additional saw tooth setting tools that all came from the same estate. I can't pass up nice old vintage sets. If you are a tool or saw collector this is a nice set to have around. Everything you need to straighten and sharpen saw teeth.
You will receive the saw spike, saw gauge, set ring stake, flat file, tooth setting tool by DSC (Disston Saw Co I'm assuming) EVERYTHING Shown. The instruction booklet is a double-sided foldout. It is tanned from age and has some stains but still easily read.
The Instructions for the use of the SIMONDS Precision Cross-cut Saw Tools includes the following: Advantages of the Simonds Precision Cross-cut Tool -- Quick, accurate, and rigid adjustment of the raker gauge.-- No chance to dislocate slide when once set in position - a featurenot to be found in any other saw tool on the market . FIRST : JOINTING [instruction on how to use the 8-inch Simonds Special Cross-cut Saw File (not included)] SECOND : FILING RAKER OR CLEANER TEETH [instruction on how to setup the tool to accomplish this task] THIRD : GAUGING THE RAKER TEETH [ instruction on using this added feature of the Saw Tool] FOURTH : SETTING THE TEETH [instruction in using the setting stake to set the teeth] FIFTH : REGULATING THE SET [instruction on using the set gauge and modifying it to change the amount of set] SIXTH : SWAGING RAKER TEETH [instructions on using the swaging hammer (not included) to change the hook of the raker teeth.
A great gift for the tool collector, logger or wood worker.
