This is a handsome antique authentic Federal Period mahogany mirror with gorgeous reverse painted glass. The painted is done in a true folk art style with three tall ships sailing on the ocean or seas. The casement is beautifully carved with intricate reeding toward the top. This mirror will go well with your other Federal pieces but can also be used with many decorative styles including Farmhouse, Coastal and Nautical, Americana and many more.
The mirror stands 30 3/4" tall by 16 1/4" long with a depth of 3" from the wall (at the widest point of the top).
The glass of the painting and the mirror is free of any chips, cracks or flakes. This c1810 mirror has stood the test of time incredibly well. We pointed out some stress cracks at the top of the mirror casement (see photo). This does affect the mirror from being hung or displayed. The backing on the mirror was added at a later date to protect the glass we left it because it works and doesn't hurt anything. The painting is bright and crisp in a true Folk Art style.
