This charming antique child's chair was hand crafted in Maple wood. It has superb turnings on the back and front posts. This chair dates back to the early 18th Century (c1710-15) and has the regional turnings of Pennsylvania. There are not many examples online but there are some in Wallace Nutting's "Furniture Treasury" and "Pilgrim Furniture".
We took photos from every angle so you can see how beautifully this chair presents. There is also a photo with measurements which we will also list below.
Measurements:
Overall Height - 19 3/4"
Chair Width - 9"
Chair Depth - 9 1/4"
Seat Height - 6"
Seat Dimensions - 9 1/8" X 9 3/4"
There is not much to note as this in really gorgeous condition for it's 300 year old age. The top ladder shows wear down and we see a split on the left front leg that has been varnished over at some point in time. The chair is solid and presents wonderfully.
Even if you do not have any children at home, this will make superb piece of Farmhouse or Country decor. It is the perfect side to fit beside a fireplace and it will also hold an antique doll, or other decorative item maybe a small bouquet in a planter. Endless possibilities and a rare find.
