A large Maricela signed sterling silver brooch c1950. This gorgeous flower design by reknown Taxco Mexican silversmith Isidro Garcia Pina is beautifully articulated.
The brooch has several marks on the back side. The brooch is marked 950 for sterling silver purity and it has been safely tested to be so. You may note most silver jewelry is marked 925, this is above the normal standard of silver purity. It is marked Taxco for the region in Mexico it was crafted and also marked with the Maricela name. Under magnification near the the fold over clasp we can see the remnants of the eagle mark along with another mark that appears to be the initials of Isidro Pina. This was impossible to photograph as the marks are tiny and quite worn.
The brooch is large measuring 3" X 2". It has a highly polished finish. We only did a light hand polishing and as you can see it looks amazing. There is a light patina on the back of the brooch close the edge of the petals which will come off if you want to remove it. We never over polish vintage or antique sterling silver.
