Victorian Deep Walnut Frames X2 Gilt Liner Large Tin-Types Frames VG Cond
A rare find for your Victorian Decor. This pair of deep walnut frames with gilt liner has 2 large tin-type photographs. Although the matte board is stained the frames are in VG+ condition for their 150 yr age. We date these between 1860-70. Please view all 10 photos to see these beautiful frames up close and from every angle. We chose not to remove the stained matte because we wanted you to see them as they were acquired. In addition, the cream matte has a lovely gilt trim inside the oval. I was wondering if the gilt edge could be taped off and the matte board could be sprayed or painted....just a thought. If not the matte can be removed and these will be perfect for your photographs, paintings, prints or other artwork.
Each frame stands 14" X 12" with a depth to the wall of 2 1/2". Once the matte is removed the area that will show your photograph, print or painting is 9 3/4" X 7 1/2", making these are perfect for 8 X 10 pieces. Both frames have glass and the glass is all good on both frames. The wood backings could use a few more finishing nails to hold the backs on tighter but otherwise these are remarkable. I give them an 8.5 out 10 on frame condition for their age (not counting the matte board) just the physical frame.
