Maurice Heaton Art Glass Kidney Bowl MCM Mid Century Decor
Mid Century Modern signed Art Glass by Maurice Heaton. This kidney shape blue has a highly polished interior and textured outside pebbly grain in a neutral palette. They call this blue but it picks up shades of taupe and gray depending on it's surroundings. See our last photo close up and the interior room photo.
This Heaton piece measures 10 1/2" long by 8" wide with a 2" height. The inside of the bowl is highly polished and the exterior stripes of fused glass are textured in a grainy pebble feel. The M.H. are inscribed at the base.
Maurice Heaton was born in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1900. He lived in NY, NY until his death in 1989. He attended the Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken New Jersey. In addition to his modernist glass works he is also known for enameled tableware. His works can be found at the MET in NYC.
