Beautiful piece of intricate Italian Marquetry from Sorrento Italy c1960. This vintage wall hanging is made entirely of wood with beautiful inlay of many different types of wood. Please view all photos and closeups to see the enormous amount of work that went into this piece. It is in Good condition with some appropriate age wear seen that we have shown and remedied most of with a simple scratch cover. This piece is not perfect as few things over 60 years old are, but what it lacks in perfection it makes up for in natural beauty and charm. It will go well with Natural decors such as Boho Chic, coastal, and any decor with natural wood accents.
This piece of marquetry measures 20" tall by 15 1/4" wide with about a 1/4" depth. There is a photo to show you what it looked like before I hit it with some Tibet-Almond Stick (the best scratch remover/cover for a quick fix). It covered everything but the chip at the top right corner and the wear along the bottom edge which is difficult to see when it is hung. All the wood inlay is present. We note 1 piece that has a slight bow to it, we mention for accuracy but no one is going to pick this out when it is hung.
There is a hanger on the back for easy mounting or you can prop it up on an entry way table, server or dresser. So many different beautiful pieces of natural wood. Looking forward to finding this piece a new home to enjoy.
