This beautiful brooch c1900, has thirty drilled set white seed pearl measuring 3mm each. The inner ring of the brooch has twenty faceted channel set faceted onyx square cut stones. Each stone measures 2.5mm X 2.5mm (.10 carat per stone for at 2 carat total weight). The 14k gold setting is crafted with an open design. It is hallmarked 14k on the catch for gold purity and Sloan & Co. trident mark beside it. Sloan & Company (Newark, NJ). was known for their fine craftsmanship since 1897.
It has the early lever safety catch seen on c1890-1910 jewelry. We believe this piece falls in the middle of that age range. This brooch is superbly crafted with a nice weight for a brooch this size weighing 4.7 grams including the pearls and gems.
As you can see from the photos the piece is in excellent estate condition. This is quite a treasure in late Victorian period fine jewelry. Classic and elegant....exactly what a classic antique brooch should be.
