Antique Mettlach Gnomes Elves Beer Pilsner Vessel H. Schlitt Style

10 3/4" / Cream / Stoneware

A great antique collectible for the Mettlach beer stein collector.  This tall 1 liter pilsner is made from stoneware and has the 1902 date mark.  It has the Geschultzt copyright mark of 1032 and a mold mark of 2775. It is decorated with three different scenes of gnomes in the H. Schlitt style. It could be a Villeroy & Bach early piece. We have been unable to find any of these molds for reference.

The vessel stands 10 3/4" tall, measures 3 1/2" across the rim and 3 3/4" at the base. There are various scenes of gnomes playing and incised bands of yellow and brown decoration above and below the gnomes with a third area of decorative incising just above the pedestal base. In addition there is also an incised 1/2 L mark (half liter) near the rim. The condition is Very Good++ condition with no chips, cracks, flakes or repairs. The transfer is still bright and clean.

A very rare piece for the beer collector.
