A beautiful dainty antique brooch in 10k yellow gold with strung seed pearls and diamond. This Edwardian era brooch is signed by the maker Swift and Fisher (North Attleboro, Mass.) on the "C" catch and dates to 1915. The first photograph is enlarge to provide details of the craftsman ship the brooch measures 1" in length by 5/8" wide.
The brooch has strung seed pearls on the ornate 10k gold setting. The strung design is a sign of quality and the reason why all of the pearls have stayed in place for over 100 years. At the center is a 3mm X 3mm X 2mm natural diamond (approximately .11 carat stone). The diamond is I1 in clarity and L in color with a very nice cut.
The brooch has a weight of 2.1 grams including the pearls and diamond. The gold has been safely tested to be 10k gold. At the upper part of the pin you can see the remnants of the 10k gold mark under magnification. We only did a light cleaning with a polishing cloth and steamed the diamond. There is a light patina to gold in some areas which is consistent with age.
This would be a wonderful gift for the bride to be but is also a classic piece of fine jewelry that would work on a jacket or blouse.
