A remarkable set of 3 antique Chinese Vertical hand drawn watercolor paintings in solid rosewood frames. These are simply stunning and will make a spectacular wall display as they measure over 4 feet tall. We took as many photos as possible (there are 12 photos) for you to see their beauty and condition. They will work with any type of Asian decor including your chinoiserie pieces.
We recently acquired an estate collection of Asian antiques, some of which we have been told, were on loan in the past at various exhibits. I wish we had more info but hopefully the photos will show you what we see and we are happy to answer any questions you might have.
Each vertical panels has a frame measurement 54 1/2" tall by 15 7/8" wide with a 1" depth. (see photo 5 next to a can of pop for size). The paintings are on a paper stock which was bordered in some type of textured paper (see last photo). The paper which these have been painted on is tanned fairly evenly and for some reason even without our flash the tanning looks darker in our photos than in person. But there is tanning from age. We see some water spots along the bottom edge of the border and on the side of one of them but the painted area is untouched. We removed one carefully from the glass to take closeups as seen in photo 4. The rest of our photos were shot with the glass so you will note some light glare - we did our best and hopefully the beauty of these shows. They are truly spectacular and definitely antique.
The rosewood frames are beautiful, heavy and have these interesting pull out tabs on the back (photo 9 collage 2nd photo on left). I estimate these to be late 20th century c1880-1900. When we took the one painting out of the frame we checked carefully for any symbols, signatures and watermarks and could not find any. I also used a UV light. The size of these is impressive especially with a vertical hang, they will make a phenomenal wall display.
