19th Cent Ashworth Ironstone Plate Imari Style Colors Rare Pattern

9 3/4" / Black / Ironstone

Antique piece of Imari Style Ironstone in a rare pattern.  This plate was made by Ashworth Bros c1870s. It is exceptionally decorated measuring 9 3/4" across. The pattern resembles their Franklin pattern, also called Old Japan Vase, but has divided decorated sections in black which the Franklin pattern does not have. We searched high and low and could not find anything matching this pattern on any piece of their ironstone. The glaze is thick and raised with gilt decoration which has held up remarkably well for it's age. See close up photos. There are no chips, cracks or flakes to the plate.

The center of the plate, a 6 1/4" section, is slightly concave from the border of the plate. We have had this piece for many, many years as a display in our shop but have not had it for sale until now as we are redecorating.

Absolutely stunning and worthy of a ironstone collector.
