A beautiful collectible German thimble in sterling silver and enamel. This vintage c1950s thimble was made by Gabler in Germany and has their 8 point star at the top. It also has the "ZI" import mark for the Netherlands. . The thimble could very well have been made in Germany and hand painted in the Netherlands.
This thimble is a #9 and stands 24mm (15/16") tall with a 15mm opening across. It is in beautiful condition. The blue and white enameling is stunning, depicting an outdoor scene much like you would see on a piece of Delft pottery. It is also marked 925 for sterling silver purity and has been safely tested to be so. The sterling silver mark, 925 is also very tiny and located right above the band of enameling mixed in with the thimbles indentations. To the right of the 925 mark is the number 9 for the thimble size.
We did not over clean the sterling silver, simply wiped down with a polishing cloth. There is not much tarnish or oxidation on this piece overall...a little at the top. No dings or dents. Gabler thimbles are highly collectible and this would be an excellent gift for the collector.
