1840s English Sponge Cut Decorated Earthenware Bowl in Pale Blue and White. A stunning example of early decorated pottery.
The blue glaze is a paler shade of blue. There is one outside chip shown on photo 5 and 7 (one from a distance and one close up). There is an area of glaze missing on the inside of bowl just above the flower decoration (you can see the earthenware). There is some glaze wear on the very edge of the rim. It displays beautifully and structurally can still be used. The dots on the large border are incised.
This is a remarkable piece of early earthenware and will make a fantastic display in your home.
