An incredible antiquarian book for the collector.  This 1825, first edition book by Thomas G. Waterman, entitled The Justice's Manual; Or, A Summary of the Powers and Duties of the Justices of the Peace of the State of New York. Comprising a Variety of Practical Forms, adapted to cases Civil and Criminal .

The topics are very interesting and show how far our justice system has come and the important role the Justice of the Peace had during this historical period. Many of our current laws have not changed much and some of the reading will leave you speechless (ie; sections on Bastardly Children and the Poor).

Bound in full calf leather showing expected wear but fully intact. Binding tight. 8vo. Measures 8 1/2" X 5 3/8". 222 pages including the index. No missing or torn pages. Pages show tanning, age spots etc but all can be easily read. Free of any writing or notes. No odors.

An exceptional antique book worthy of a discerning collector.
