A gorgeous Art Nouveau ring with a unusual black star sapphire stone surrounded by strung seed pearls. The 14k rose gold setting makes the perfect display for this antique ring. It is a size 5.5 and can be resized by your jeweler.
The black star sapphire stone is dark gray to medium black in color. It has a flash of golden color at the center. When a light hits it straight on you can see the star effect. It was nearly impossible to get this to photograph but you can see the flash in our photos. The Sapphire cabochon stone measures 8mm across with a 5.5mm depth for a 3.80 carat weight. It is oval in shape and we see no flaws to the smooth surface.
The seed pearls are tightly strung on a wire, not mounted or set. This is much safer, as many times you see antique and vintage rings missing small pearls. It is a standard of quality you see on well crafted fine jewelry of this era.
The setting is done in 14k rose gold with an open decorative gallery. The gallery to the top of the stop has a height of 6mm. The front setting of the ring 5/8" (north to south) X 9/16" (east to west). The band of the ring measures 4mm coming off the gallery and graduates down to 2mm at the back of the band. You can see how lovely it looks on or model and get an idea of size.
This ring is hallmarked 14k for gold purity and has been safely tested to be so. This is a wonderful piece of Art Nouveau jewelry with a beautiful and unusual stone.
