A wonderful vintage garnet ring in 14k gold for the January birthday girl or the lover of fine vintage gemstone jewelry. This ring is a size 6 but can be resized by your jeweler for the perfect fit.
The Marquise cut almandine garnet measures 12mm X 6mm with a depth of 3mm. It has a 1.35 carat weight. The stone is VS1 clarity and as you can see the color is fabulous, like a fine wine. It has 2 round diamond accents beside the main stone. These measure 1.5mm for a .02 carat weight. The setting measures 5/8" from North to South and 1/2" from East to West. You can get a visual of actual size on the hand on our model.
The setting of the ring is beautiful. It has an open work basket setting on the mount and the band is bypass design coming up on on side and down on the other side. The ring mount still sits center on the finger. It is hard to describe and difficult to see in the photos but it is lovely sweeping effect. The ring is marked 14k for gold purity and has been safely tested to be so. This ring has a nice weight to it at 4.1 grams including the stones. The ring is also marked ROMANY inside the band. This was a line of rings made by Stern & Stern - NY, NY a manufacturer from the 1920s through the 1970s. We can date this based piece on it's design to the 1950s. The gold is bright, clean and highly polished.
