Estate 14k White Gold Art Deco Ladies Watch J. Reynold Needs TLC
A stunning Estate Art Deco Ladies Watch with a solid 14k White Gold case and 12k Gold Filled band. We have had this watch for a few decades intending to get it fixed and never got around to it. It doesn't need too much and it will be so worth it.
The watch is NOT running. It is over-wound - we can turn the stem toward us but can not wind in the other direction. We can pull out the stem to adjust the hands and set the time. The watch is missing the 2nd hand which I did not notice on my first inspection it is difficult to see and if you didn't replace this no one would be wiser. The main watch hands (hour and minute) and all numbers on face are present. The glass bezel is all good. The watch case octagonal and measures 28mm X 21mm (nearly 1 1/8" X 5/8")
Inside the watch is marked 15j for 15 jewels and has the name J. Reynold. We could find nothing with that name in our horology research - keep in mind that Reynold has no "S" on the end as there are makers with the last name Reynolds. There are closeups of the works for you to view. I did not clean or mess with the works as I am not a watch expert. I tried to shake it to see if I could get it running, but I could not. The detail work on the case is beautiful from every angle.
The watch has an ornate 14k white gold case with the intials MBG (we believe last letter is a G difficult to tell as it is stylized). The case inside is marked by the Star Watch Case Company 1061820 and it also has hand engraved numbers 6875. The case is marked 585/14k gold and has been safely tested to be so.
The decorative band is 12k white gold filled marked with a patent date of 3.11.13 so this is right where we would expect this to be age wise. The band is expandable and can be removed so you can add a band if you choose. The band is for a small wrist meaning the band expands to about 7 1/4" BUT you have to be able to get over your hand and knuckles. My model is a small to average frame and she has a 6 1/4" wrist so you would think would fit but it won't pass over her hands you may have better luck if you hands are smaller. Again the band can be easily replaced. We are selling this as is with buyer knowing it needs work.
