Heard turning 14k Ruby and Diamond Engagement Ring in a Heavy Plumb Gold Setting. This estate beauty is a size 6.5 and can be resized by your jeweler for the perfect fit.
This ring is a contemporary vintage style circa early 1990s. It is heavier than most ladies rings we see weighing in at 8 grams (including the stones). The setting has an oval faceted natural ruby with gorgeous color measuring 7mm X 5mm, estimated at 1 carat (we do not remove the stones from the settings). It is surrounded by eight channel set diamonds measuring 3mm X 2mm, four on either side of the ruby. The diamond weight is estimated at close to a 1/2 carat at .48. The diamonds have superb clarity at VS2 and are I-J in color, very bright. Any small white spots you see on the ruby is lint after we steamed it and patted it dry.
The 14k gold setting is highly polished yellow gold with 2 bands of white gold on either side of the end of the channel set diamonds. This is nice because you can wear this ring with both your white gold and yellow gold pieces. The band of the ring is wide measuring 5.5mm at the sides and tapering to 4mm at the back. The ring is stamped 14kp for 14k plumb gold with is the highest standard of 14k gold purity. It has been safely tested and is guaranteed to be as stated.
The ring is in Excellent estate condition. We note one a small flaw not visible to the naked eye (see last photo). There is a flake on facet of the ruby. We did not see under our first 10X magnification inspection so you will not see it on the hand but under 40X manification inspection it can be seen. It measures less than 1/2mm in size. We always make certain you know exactly what we see. We have deducted from the value appropriately but overall this not a game changer on this quality piece.
We love the weight and craftsmanship of the gold work as well as the beautify of the ruby. The profile of the ring is absolutely gorgeous and you can see some of the weightiness here (see photo 4). This ring is the one you want to find under the tree!
