Art Nouveau Silver Plate Ice Bucket Champagne Bucket Charles Rennie Mackintosh Style, Antique Barware
Here is a beautiful and superbly crafted antique Art Nouveau era Ice Bucket from Europe. We acquired at a local estate here in Florida with the family originating from Austria. When I saw this piece, I was immediately drawn to it and after I picked it up, I knew it was something great. It weighs over 3.5 lbs unboxed. It is of a quality that you might see in a fine restaurant or hotel.
There was a stand at one time, but it did not make over here when their grandparents came. The ice bucket dates between 1905-1915 and has the look of a WMF German piece with a Charlie Rennie Mackintosh design. It is super shiny and we apologize in advance for the reflection of objects in our room appearing on the bucket.
I believe the base metal is pewter. The condition is Good+. The silver plating on the outside of the bucket is bright shiny and will need minimal cleaning. The inside shows light oxidation at the very bottom of bucket but it is CLEAN inside. We note one small ding perpendicular to one of the handles, difficult to see. It is not a dent but the size pen tip. We see surface scratches on the base which we would expect from an item over 100 years old. We did not polish or clean only wiped down and it is AMAZING!
The bucket stands 8 5/8" tall and measures 11 5/8" across the handles. It has an 8 1/8" opening. Check out all of our photos for details.
