1971 Olivetti Lettera 32 Portable Typewriter w Case Turquoise Blue CLEAN Barcelona Spain
Super Clean 1971 Olivetti Lettera 32 Portable Manual Typewriter with Casae. This vintage model was designed by Marcello Nizzoli for Olivetti in 1963 and manufactured in Barcelona Spain. It is a well known favorite among journalists, writers, poets, students, song writers because of its compact size, weight and ease of use. This model is considered blue in this line but it is more of a turquoise or light teal in color - our photos are true to color. This vintage Olivetti typewriter is in Very Good++ condition with minimal wear seen. All functions are working and the body and case are clean. Below there is a link with a video of us using with the old ribbon that it came with. You can see it needs a new ribbon but it smoothly types with no sticking keys and is probably one of the easiest action typewriters I've used.
The body of the typewriter without the case measures 34x35x10 cm or 13.38 X 13.77 X 3.93 inches. In the case the measurement is 13.25 X 12.25 X 4 inch. The keyboard uses QWERTY, AZERTY and various other layouts. Apart from the typing keys, the keyboard includes a space bar, two shift keys, a caps lock, a backspace key, margin release key, paragraph indentation key and a tab-stop set/unset key. As was common in older typewriters, it lacks the number 1, which is supposed to be substituted by the lowercase "l" (Letter L).
The only note we can make as far as condition is concerned is that the inside of the case shows light but mostly even tanning typical for a piece of this age. The outer case is great no rips or tears. Zipper working and the case offers nice protection and an easy and safe way to transport this nice portable typewriter.
Many famed writers used this exact model too many to list but one of my favs is Bob Dylan.
The serial number is located on the right side of the machine and can be seen once you flip the top section up to reveal the ribbons. The serial number is 578016 dating this to 1971. There are some scratched in initials an letters on the bottom of the machine might be something related to servicing or the owner I am uncertain but it does not affect anything. you can see this in the photos with a close up.
