This is a fine collectible for the Mason or the Springfield, MA historian. A miniature trowel letter opener commemorating the cornerstone of the building 1924 Masonic Temple.
The letter opener measures 5 1/2" in length and 1 5/8" wide. The metal part of the trowel has a sharp edge for opening an envelope (not knife sharp) but definitely not a dull edge. It is engraved "Masonic Temple Laying of Corner Stone Springfield, Mass, June 24, 1924" on the front of the trowel.
Excellent original condition. This four story neo-classical style building is on the National Historic register.
