This is a beautiful 70+ year old set of vintage figural mercury glass Christmas ornaments in a coffee and tea theme. These Coffee Urns, Coffee Pots and Teapots are all hand painted and have their original caps which read West Germany. The blown glass handles on these are fine and we are impressed they made it this long without breaking. The glass bodies of these vintage ornaments is all good with no chips or cracks to the glass. The finishes show age wear but in my opinion, in comparison to what we have seen through the years, not too bad for this many years.
The first three ornaments are done in a shine finish with a hand painted design. The off white ornament is done a matte or chalkier feeling finish but also has a hand painted design. I know you see spots on these and are wondering why we did not wipe off....if you are new to mercury glass ornament collecting, you can not wet the finish on these only dry wipe. The finishes will come off with anything wet. We did however make a dull finish shiny just by using a dry soft cloth gently.
Each ornament measures approximately 3 3/4" tall to the top of the cap and measures 2 1/2" across the widest section of the bodies. All have their original caps marked West Germany.
