A lovely example of Victorian Gold jewelry. This ornate 14kbrooch is crafted of both yellow and rose gold to form a beautiful love knot. It also has delicately applied rope trim and seed pearls.
It measures 1 7/8" long by 5/8" tall and has an earlier "C" catch closure which is made from an elongated tube of gold.
This brooch has four tiny white seed pearls, two on either side of the center setting. The center setting is an eight prong setting and MISSING the stone tiny stone. It would hold tiny 1.5mm stone approximately. You could place any type of stone in the setting and it would be lovely. The prongs are all good. The swirls and knotted gold are hollow without any dings or dents. Any silver coloration you can see on the back is soldering metal from crafting the piece. The piece has been tested and guaranteed to be 14k gold. The pin has a very small stamp with the makers mark "AM". I tried several times to capture it but it was simply too small. It is a simply block letter stamp maker's mark. No other marks seen. The pin (not the brooch but the fastening mechanism) has a very slight wave in it, noted for accuracy but closes just fine. It has a weight of 4 grams.
This is an exceptional piece of early gold work we hope to find a new home.
